PetCo storage facility investigated

JOLIET On Thursday, U.S. Marshals seized various products reportedly stored in unsanitary conditions.

The Food and Drug Administration says during a check in April, investigators found widespread rodent and bird infestation. They say follow ups showed little improvement.

The Joliet center provides food and supplies to PetCo stores in 16 states, including Illinois.

The FDA says it hasn't received any reports of illness or death tied to the PetCo distribution plant.

Pet owners who've bought items from PetCo should wash them in hot soapy water.

PetCo officials did not comment.
