Six children in the northwest suburbs have the measles, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. The children reportedly did not receive their routine childhood immunizations.

Measles' symptoms include rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and red watery eyes.

Anyone who exhibits symptoms should contact their doctor for an evaluation.

Health officials say measles can be prevented with routine childhood vaccinations.
