Study: 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer

According to the American Academy of Dermatology about one in five Americans will develop skin cancer during their lifetime.

The most common types of skin cancer are basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas. Both types are easy to treat if detected early.

For people aged 25 to 29, melanoma is the most common form of cancer. Dermatologists suspect it is because of high risk tanning behaviors. Seventy-five percent of skin cancer deaths are from melanoma.
