Small Visa debit purchases will no longer require PIN

Using a debit card to make small purchases will no longer require a personal identification number.Visa says merchants can now treat debit cards the same as credit cards for purchases under $25.

The Justice Department had been investigating Visa for requiring merchants to treat debit cards differently.

A signature requirement has already been waived for credit card purchases under $25.
