CHICAGO Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said the boy fell from a rock ledge surrounding the harbor. He was with several other children at the time of the accident.

The Fire Department called for a helicopter, a dive team and a police marine unit boat to aid in the search for the boy after he fell into the water. The boy was found after a 20 minute search.

The boy, who was not identified by authorities, was taken to the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
