Evanston teen charged in death of baby

CHICAGO The Cook County state's attorney's office says James Jackson of Evanston faces two counts of first-degree murder in the death of Clarashea Hebron.

An autopsy reveals the 11-month-old died of multiple injuries resulting from child abuse. The Cook County medical examiner ruled her death a homicide on Tuesday.

Evanston police say paramedics went to the home on a report an infant was in medical distress. The baby was later pronounced dead at Children's Memorial Hospital.

Illinois Department of Children and Family Services spokesman Kendall Marlowe says the agency is investigating. He says the agency had no prior contact with the parents and there were no other children in the home.
