Garlic could be used to treat hypertension

Garlic supplements may help lower blood pressure. New research says garlic can be just as effective at treating hypertension as some medications.

Researchers at the University of Adelaide in Australia write that garlic preparations may provide an "acceptable alternative" or a "complimentary treatment" option for hypertension.

More research is needed to determine whether garlic supplementation might have a long-term effect on heart disease risk.
