Some Chicago public high school students will have a more economical commute thanks to the expansion of CTA's student card program. Following a successful pilot, the CTA is expanding the program to 46 schools this school year.

Students will receive personalized cards combining student ID, reduced-fare eligibility cards and reduced-fare cards all into one. Previously, each student had to carry all three cards to receive the reduced fare.

Students pay a reduced fare of 85 cents and 15 cents per transfer Monday through Friday when school is in session.
