Teachers in northwest suburban Huntley have rejected the school board's offer of a new contract. While details of that proposal are not public, the union says there was an overwhelming response from its members to turn down the offer.

Last week, the teachers filed an intent to strike. But the union says a strike is not imminent.

The union plans to meet with the superintendent Wednesday morning.

The first day of school is set for Monday.
