Babies born caesarean more likely to become diabetic, study finds

Researchers at Queens University in Belfast say the c-section procedure itself might be part of the reason since it exposes newborns to bacteria originating from within the hospital room as opposed to maternal bacteria which natural birth babies come in contact with.

The normal risk of a baby developing type 1 diabetes is three in 1,000.

The study's findings are currently reported in the journal PubMed.
