Animal Care League Benefit

"I can't attribute this to any one particular factor, but I do know that there is a great need for the services that we provide, says said Tom Van Winkle, Executive Director. " Our 250+ dedicated volunteer staff and team of five medical specialists work extremely hard to make sure that these animals are well cared for and not euthanized."

To raise awareness of the pets' needs and money for the shelter, the Animal Care league is holding a pet fair and web-a-thon from September 5-7.

All animal lovers are invited to the pet fair on Friday, September 5 from 4 to 6 pm. The fair will be held at 1011 Garfield St., Oak Park and will feature: microchips for dogs & cats for only $15; a pet snack bar; pet photography and a pet costume contest - with prizes for best costume - pet only and best costume - owner and pet. For more information on the pet fair and costume contest visit www.animalcareleague.com

"The goal of the fair is to bring animal lovers together and to raise awareness and funds for supporting the shelter," said Tom Van Winkle, Executive Director. "The fair is a kick-off event for our weekend web-a-thon, an Internet based fundraiser that allows people to support the Animal Care League with donations online. As a non-profit organization, we needed to create a unique and inexpensive way to bring attention to our cause and to raise much needed funds to help us continue our work. The web-a-thon allows viewers to learn more about the breadth and depth of work that we do through videos, how to become involved as a volunteer, and hopefully, inspires people to make donations."

The web-a-thon runs from 5 pm September 5 through 5 pm September 7. Support for the Animal Care League can be made online using a credit card or by mailing in a check. Donations are accepted for any amount and special member benefits are available for $25, $50, $150, $500 and $1000 donor levels. The web-a-thon can be accessed at www.animalcareleague.org.
