Chicago police shoot, kill alleged attacker

CHICAGO Police found a 20-year-old man stabbing another man -- his brother -- inside a building on North Bell and Lake Street. They ordered him to stop but he refused. When the man allegedly turned on officers one of them opened fire on the suspect.

The alleged attacker was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The medical examiner has identified the man as Tyrone Dandridge.

The stabbing victim is now hospitalized. There has been no word on that person's condition.

It's unclear why Bell was allegedly stabbing his brother. Neighbors said the two were roommates.

"The Independent Police Review Authority has begun an investigation into an officer involved shooting at 145 North Bell. There were no officers injured. There was a weapon recovered," said Mark Payne, Independent Police Review Authority.

The city's Independent Police Review Authority is investigating the deadly police shooting.
