Study suggests red wine may fight MS

It's all because of resveratrol. The compound found in red wine has shown promise in treating multiple sclerosis in laboratory mice.

In the study, mice with an MS-like condition showed an initial weight gain when given resveratrol.

Scientists say weight gain of any kind is an encouraging sign in MS treatment.

Researchers say the study, reported at the World Congress on Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis, poses some questions and a lot more needs to be done to see if the weight gain shows a beneficial effect on the disease process.
