Suburb passes on sagging pants ban

MIDLOTHIAN, Ill. Village officials have decided not to adopt an ordinance that would ban them.

Last summer, Lynwood enacted a law that imposed a $25 fine on anyone showing 3 inches or more of their underwear in public. Midlothian was considering a similar law, but Wednesday night, village officials announced that they had abandoned the idea.

Officials in Sauk Village are considering adopting the measure. They are awaiting the outcome on a similar case before the Illinois Supreme Court.
