A West Loop restaurant and bar is closed after being shut down Thursday by inspectors from the Chicago Department of Public Health. Bar Louie, 741 W. Randolph, was shut down after health inspectors discovered rat droppings in a basement storage area.

The restaurant was also cited for front and rear doors with gaps that allow access to rodents and insects, fruit flies in the kitchen, and a poorly maintained outside garbage area.

Bar Louie owners have been fined about $2,000.

Bar Louie has 11 locations in the Chicago area.

Three other city locations have been shut down this year for health violations.
