Chicago area Army reservists headed to Iraq

CHICAGO Friday morning, members of the 416th Engineer Command had a special farewell breakfast in southwest suburban Darien.

Members of the Army Reserve unit have known for about six months that they would be deploying to the Gulf region, but that didn't make saying goodbye any easier.

"My wife and I, we've been through this before, and so, before hand we divide up household chores. So, I can go ahead and take off," said Lt. Col. Keith Eichorst. "It's a tough time right now."

"There's a lot of transition going on, but we've been training a lot, and I feel prepared and ready to do the job, to get it done," said Staff Sgt. Tiakka Johnson.

The reservists will assist with and coordinate construction projects in Iraq. They are expected to be overseas approximately one year.
