Type-2 diabetes could slow a person's mental processing speed, according to new research that shows -- among the mental abilities that are affected by type-2 diabetes -- the speed at which the brain processes information appears to be the most severely impaired, particularly in patients with undiagnosed disease. The research team reporting in the American Journal of Epidemiology concludes future treatments should be developed given the increasing prevalence of type-2 diabetes in older adults.
