The body approved a resolution requiring the state to pick up the tab in the event of a special election.
"If it doest come to fact that we have any type of special election that 100 percent be incurred by the state to take it off our backs which obviously we don't have the funds to do," said Cmsr. Liz Gorman, 17th District.
Cook County's share of a statewide special election is estimated at $6 million.
