On Monday, Mayor Daley got a firsthand look at the rink that's under construction at Wrigley Field. He said the game is a big deal for Chicago sports fans.
"We're delighted the National Hockey League selected Chicago for its Winter Classic of 2009. As the first hockey game to be played at Wrigley Field, this game is already part of Chicago sports history," said Daley.
The mayor says he's been a big hockey fan since his father took him to Blackhawk games as a kid.
