Apples during pregnancy may prevent asthma

But your baby could benefit the most.

Recent research suggests that when expectant mothers eat apples during pregnancy, their babies have lower rates of asthma.

Dutch researchers studied 1,200 children from before birth to age 5. Women who ate more than four apples a week during pregnancy had children who were 46 percent less likely to have asthma symptoms.

The study is published in the journal Thorax.
