Katie Willeke explains she and another woman were on the train when one man sat next to her - and the other began assaulting a woman in the back of the train car. Willeke started to call 911. But the attacker hit her in the head with what she believed was a metal pipe.
"I hit him. He then said, 'I'm going to shoot you.' I looked at the weapon that he had and knew it wasn't a gun. So I was like okay. He then lunged over and hit me again. At this point I was scared for my life," said Willeke.
The Chicago Police Department says it's stepping up patrols in the area where the attack happened.
