Charges have been dropped against two Chicago police officers accused of robbing homes while they were members of a special operations unit focused on gangs and drugs. Officers Carl Suchocki and Tom Sherry were among seven members of the special operations unit indicted in 2006.

Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez says her office agreed to dismiss the charges after consulting with the U.S. Attorney's Office, which has been investigating with the FBI whether police supervisors covered up the alleged misconduct.
