Demonstration held against McDonald's

Protesters demonstrated outside a downtown McDonald's Saturday, protesting the fast food chain's support of a Chicago Public School program."We don't want your Big Mac. We just want our schools back," the protesters shouted.

McDonald's critics say the firm has given almost $2 million to help support Renaissance 2010. They complain that Renaissance closes some schools, including Peabody on West Augusta.

The Board of Education says under-performing schools are being replaced by 100 new, higher-quality facilities with smaller class sizes.

McDonald's and other businesses are supporting the program.
