Is your child wearing the wrong size shoe?

If you've ever found shoe shopping for children to be nerve wracking, here's something to consider. Swiss researchers find in a new report most kids shoes are actually smaller than the stated size. Doctors say that could put them at risk for developing foot deformities such as bunions.

Those study results were presented this week at the American Academy of Orthopedics Surgeons annual meeting.

So what's a parent to do?

Doctors say children's feet should always be measured before the purchase of new footwear.

It's also a good idea to consider the actual size of the shoe rather than the number marked in the shoe or on the box.
