Summer festivals hit hard by recession

March 6, 2009 (CHICAGO) Lisle's annual Eyes to the Skies festival is really feeling the impact. This year, the festival is cutting back from four days to two and one-half over the Fourth of July weekend.

At the end of last year, the festival was hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. The not-for-profit that used to organize it went out of business.

Although many suburbs are cutting costs, most are trying to avoid dropping their fireworks displays.
