Doctors recommend new breast cancer screening

March 10, 2009 This would not look for disease but instead determine their odds of developing the cancer.

The screening involves considering personal attributes. For example, older women with dense breasts and those with a family history of breast cancer all have greater odds of developing the disease.

But giving birth to children decreases a women's risk.

Taking the combination of factors together doctors found the total package could predict who is at higher risk for breast cancer.
