Hundreds of Midwest Tibetans marched through downtown Chicago to mark the 50th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day. More than 1,000 Tibetans and their supporters marched to the Chinese consulate on West Erie. Many came from surrounding areas including Indiana, Michigan, and Minnesota.

Tuesday's protestors stand in solidarity with the people of Tibet who continue to resist China's rule.

In 1959, tens of thousands of Tibetans protested China's occupation of Tibet.
