Standoff ends in south suburbs

A home invasion turned into an armed standoff in south suburban Park Forest Sunday.Police responded to an initial call of an armed home invasion around 8:15 a.m. They found a person matching the description given by the caller entering another home on the 100 block of Hemlock.

The South Suburban Emergency Response team was called in. They surrounded the house and made contact with the suspect, who surrendered peacefully several hours later.

Park Forest investigators say charges against the suspect are pending.
