The Chicago police officer involved in fatal shooting of a teenager in 2007 has been found to have acted within departmental guidelines. The shooting of 18-year-old Aaron Harrison sparked angry reactions in the area around the 1100-block of South Mozart.

The Independent Police Review Authority says their findings, including Harrison's autopsy and independent witness statements, support the officer's account that Harrison was armed at the time of the shooting.

"We want to see if it's consistent with the version of events and taking into account all of the witness statements and all of the witness statements, that wound was consistent with the threat articulated," said Mark Payne, Independent Police Review Authority.

A handgun was found at the scene. The police review authority says it did belong to Harrison.
