Coffee prices are up as more consumers are brewing at home during the recession. Coffee prices have jumped 7.3 percent so far this year, according to IEC Futures US.

Many consumers are cutting back on trips to coffee shops and making their morning cups of coffee at home in an effort to save money.

A recent survey by the National Coffee Association finds that 80 percent of Americans said they brewed their own coffee at home the day before they were surveyed. That's the highest level since 2003.
