Teenagers may suffer more from headaches than thought

August 13, 2009 (CHICAGO) A study in the British Journal of General Practice shows one in five teens suffer headaches at least once a week, and of the 1,000 children questioned for the study, 20 percent said the headaches affected their ability to function at home and at school.

Researchers say the finding means headache is more common than diseases that receive considerably more attention, such as diabetes and asthma.

They also stress that more needs to be done to recognize and treat this problem.
