Jewish New Year marked in Chicago

The Jewish New Year was being marked at synagogues all over the Chicago area on Friday night.Worshippers attended a service at Chicago Sinai congregation on the near North Side.

Rosh Hashanah is the first of the high holidays set aside to focus on repentance. It marks the start of a 10-day period of introspection ending with Yom Kippur, the day of atonement.
