One of the companies in the top ten is Abbott. The magazine notes the pharmaceutical firm's in-house, massive childcare center and the educational services it provides for new moms.
Also on the list is Northfield-based Kraft. The magazine says that women hold 42-percent of Kraft's board of directors seats and 37-percent of all executive jobs.
Other Chicago firms on the top 100 list include, Allstate Insurance, Children's Memorial Hospital, and Grant Thornton LLP. That professional services company is also in the top 10 nationwide.
The law firm of Katten Muchin Rosenman, Northern Trust Corporation and Northwestern Memorial Healthcare round out the Chicago area entries.
