Lawrence Peterson, 28, of East Chicago, Indiana and 27-year-old William Taylor of Chicago died.
A third man was critically injured.
Friends say Peterson was a positive, hardworking person who leaves behind a wife and two children.
Chicago police say the driver who ran the red light is in custody and charges of aggravated DUI and reckless homicide are pending.
