Chicago Public Library cuts branch hours

October 5, 2009 (CHICAGO) The Harold Washington Library would not be impacted and neither would the city's two regional libraries-- Sulzer on the North Side and Woodson on the South Side.

The plan is still being worked out, but it calls for 76 branches to open later and close earlier.

A library spokeswoman says the changes are necessary because the libraries have had a hiring freeze for years that has eroded staffing levels
