Things will get a little quieter for people who live near the Canadian National Railway tracks in three Chicago suburbs. The railroad's trains will stop sounding horns at nine railroad crossings in Riverside, North Riverside and Berwyn.

The quiet zone will take effect on Thursday.

The agreement was reached after the crossings got several improvements including new signs, improved median barriers and new safety equipment.
