Apollo 13 hero honored in Chicago

The commander of the Apollo 13 space mission was honored in Chicago Thursday night for being a hero in the tradition of Abraham Lincoln.Captain James Lovell received the Lincoln Leadership Prize. He's credited for helping save the Apollo crew when the mission experienced catastrophic equipment failure.

The story was retold in the movie Apollo 13 starring Tom Hanks who introduced Lovell at Thursday's event.

"I think this leadership prize will be something that I will always treasure. Hopefully, when I'm gone my children will have that as a remembrance," said Capt. Lovell.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation presented Lovell with the award.
