Officials in one suburban school district voted Monday night to layoff more than 100 teachers to help close a budget deficit. Those affected are non-tenured teachers in Carpentersville District 300.

There is a possibility they could be called back to work.

The district also laid out details about possible transportation cuts. They include eliminating buses for a preschool program, ending special routes for students who attend parochial schools and cutting transportation for those in the dual language program.

The district says it's facing a deficit of at least $6.5 million.
