March 26, 2010 (CHICAGO)

A total of 7 people are in custody.

Investigators say an after hours cleaner got access to the patient records of more than 200 people at the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation. The personal information was used to get credit cards, which investigators say were then used to buy more than $300,000 worth of goods.

Northwestern has set up a hotline for patients concerned about their personal information: (312) 695- 4757.
