A woman whose car plunged into a pond in west suburban Westmont Monday night has died.

Perla Hurlburt, 70, and her husband, LeRoy, 67, were pulled from the water by a police officer and firefighter.

The couple was found floating in the water; their car was already submerged 20 feet deep when police spotted them. It's estimated they'd been in the pond for about ten minutes.

LeRoy Hurlburt survived the accident and has been released from the hospital. His wife died Wednesday.

Investigators are still trying to figure out how the car ended up in the pond.
