He has been asked to prepare the meal at the second White House state dinner of the Obama administration.
It will be held on May 19 in honor of Mexican president Felipe Calderon.
Bayless is the host of "Mexico: One Plate at a Time," which airs on the Live Well network on the 7.2 HD channel.
He also runs the restaurants Topolobampo, Frontera Grill and Xoco in Chicago.
