Friday morning, the city's park district sent out trucks to comb the 31st Street Beach.
The method collects debris and sifts through the sand, allowing the sun to bleach it.
Crews also picked up garbage by hand.
The beach season in Chicago runs from this weekend through Labor Day weekend.
