20 Jesse White Tumbler drums destroyed

June 1, 2010 (CHICAGO) For 46-years, The Jesse White Tumblers and Drum Corps have marched in the annual WOOGMS Parade on the city's North Side.

But this year, the young drummers found their instruments were missing.

They're stored in the basement of the tumbling team's office in Old Town. Team founder and Ill. Secretary of State Jesse White feared someone had swiped the 20 drums.

"We tried to reach the manager of the building," White said. "We finally made contact with him this morning, and he said what happened was, there was a flood in the basement. And they sent a team in to remove everything down there that had been soaked and the drums were part of it."

White says the team will now try to raise more than $3,000 to replace the drums before their next scheduled show over July Fourth weekend.
