The risk of C-sections is highest in first-time mothers, according to a new study published in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Researchers point out, when first-time moms have a C-section, they often have repeat cesareans with future pregnancies.
While cesarean section is a generally safe procedure, it requires a longer recovery time than vaginal birth. C-sections also present certain risks, such as blood clots, infection and breathing problems in the baby.
