Coalition campaigns to keep video gambling ban

July 16, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Clergy members, community groups and elected officials are involved in the effort which they call "Don't Gamble with Chicago."

They say powerful gaming interests are lobbying the city council to end a longtime ban on video gambling.

Supporters of video gambling say it could raise tens of millions of dollars for the City of Chicago.

Opponents say houses of worship around the city will start gathering petitions against the idea this Sunday.
