The service for Staff Sergeant Christopher Antonik took place this afternoon at Evangelical Free Church in Crystal Lake.
Antonik grew up there.
The 29-year old died on July 11th while supporting combat operations.
He was part of the U.S. Marine Corps Special Operation Command and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California.
Antonik is survived by his wife and his parents.
