New research from the American cancer society says sitting for long stretches can affect our risk of death.
During the study, women who reported more than 6 hours per day of sitting were 37 percent more likely to die. Men who spent the same time sitting were 18 percent more likely to die.
Researchers say sitting for hours may influence things like triglycerides, cholesterol, blood pressure and leptin, which play a role in obesity, cardiovascular and other chronic diseases.
