In a news release issued Monday, the Cook County Sheriff's Office says 69-year-old Jay Zimmerman and 42-year-old Alan Zimmerman face felony drug charges in connection with what officials say was a marijuana growing operation inside two homes in suburban Chicago and Indiana that included lamps and elaborate watering and filtration systems.
The release says 383 marijuana plants and nearly 23,000 grams of marijuana were recovered in the homes -- one in Skokie, Ill., and the other in Chesterton, Ind. -- as well as weapons.
Information about attorneys representing Jay and Alan Zimmerman was not immediately available.
Police said additional charges for both men are expected.
