Drugmaker: Epogen and Procrit recalled

September 24, 2010 (CHICAGO) Drugmaker Amgen is warning that some of its Epogen and Procrit anemia treatments drugs may contain glass flakes. Amgen says the flakes could cause blood clots, swelling of veins, immune system reactions and other problems.

The company also says the flakes are caused by the interaction of the drug with glass vials over the product's shelf life.

The affected lot numbers and expiration dates can be found on web sites for the products.
