Chicago City Council begins budget hearings

October 18, 2010 (CHICAGO) Last week, the mayor unveiled a $6.15 billion budget. Instead of raising taxes, the mayor wants to use money from the city's dwindling reserves to close a deficit that is more than $654 million.

The city council's committees on the budget and government operations began working on the proposed budget Monday.
